“Downtown on Main”, Oil on Canvas, 12” X 16”

I’m excited about my solo exhibition at Melange Arts in Greenville, SC. The show will be on view at the gallery from March 9-20, 2021. The work has emerged during my recent experience in quarantine in my hometown of Greenville, SC. The exhibition features a series of oil paintings on linen and canvas as well as gouache paintings on paper.

“I returned to my hometown of Greenville, SC from New York City at the start of the pandemic. During this period of lockdown, I find myself inspired in the light and vibrant color of this area, taking walks daily, exploring downtown and Falls Park, embracing a kind of shelter or haven in this period of quarantine. It was an unexpected turn of circumstances that brought me here, but as I am waking up to the light and color of this region, I strive to capture this experience with a fresh perspective. Although the streets these days are not as bustling as they usually are, I imagine the vibrant life and seek to explore the connection I have for this place through color rhythms and unexpected light. I continue walking these streets and in the midst of all that is happening, I am reminded that there is new life ahead.”
